A Good Year For Positives

This has been a pretty good year for me, in terms of this Internet stuff I do, and it's not quite over yet.

When I first came up with this topic, I was only really thinking about the couple things that had happened regarding other people who had seen and reacted to my work in some way over the course of this year. Between then and now, I realized there were a few other noteworthy things that I may as well comment on here as well, since I'm doing this anyway.

First things first, of course, the things I've heard from other folks this year. Back in February and March, I heard from a guy I went to high school with, who was saying he wanted to give me a little cash for using some of my art on something. That was certainly not an expected thing, but a good one none the less. As I think I may have said when I talked about it at the time, at least, if there's anybody else who might be interested in that sort of thing, we'll talk about it, especially if it's a serious offer, or about writing, because I've always been a bit more confident about doing this sort of thing.

More recently, back in October, there was a guy in one of the Discord servers I'm in who was saying that I inspired him to get into all this blogging/content creation sillyness. It's been quite awhile since anybody's said that to me in so many words, if they ever have before, which is why I got so choked up about it in the JM Tries video I did the day I heard the news. For me, at least, that's the kind of thing that makes all this worthwhile. I'm sure there are quite a lot of others who do this who feel the same way about it.

As I was saying above, there's a couple other things I'm feeling pretty good about right now, too. Well, three things, really. All worth talking about.

First up on that list is finishing up the Final Fantasy 9 Text Play. (See the epilog here.) I hadn't intended it to take nearly so long as it did, but there were quite a lot of real life factors going on in the course of those eight years that prevented a quicker finish. As I was saying in the next post, I've got some ideas for where I want to go next, but I've got some shit I need to figure out first, and I suspect it's still going to take me a while to get that all sorted out in any meaningful way.

And then there's the YouTube stuff. Back in February, I hit 200 videos on my channel and did a Coffee Time video about it. I hadn't really expected to get that far with doing video work because I really don't think I'm all that great at it, but as of this writing, my channel has 64 subscribers, which is quite a lot more than I had thought it might ever have.

In July, I managed to make it to 100 videos in my JM Tries series. That was also unintentional and unexpected, but at least in this case, I was paying enough attention to do a hastily put together sorta special thing for it. I've still got a few things to do for that, and I just might get to them eventually, but like I've been saying, I've got a few things to figure out along the way.

But since this is getting a little long, I'm up a little late, and I need to get to bed, I'll wrap this up here and save the few other thoughts I've got for a later time. See you soon.
