Text Play: Lufia and the Fortress of Doom (Taito, 1993, SNES) Issue #007: Should've Kept Grinding

I just couldn't be satisfied with that, though.

When I started out this time around, I figured I'd do a little XP grinding so I'd maybe be a little more able to handle the boss I knew was coming at the top of the Northwest Tower. With that in mind, I went into the Old Cave again and ran around a little bit. Almost worked out, but I still got my ass beat on my way out, so I reset the game on account of not wanting to lose half my gold and went for a change of plans.

That change of plans took me into the Northwest Tower even though I wasn't exactly ready for it. The tower itself wasn't so bad, all things considered. Even got to where the buddy of the guy from Grenoble was. At first, he said he didn't want to talk to us but then we showed him the letter. He said he'd be a little more willing to talk, but he wanted to go one-on-one with the hero first.

I kind of got this part of the game mixed up, sadly. I had thought there was a place that let the party rest up first, but there wasn't. That may come later in the game. I had also thought that maybe this was the sort of thing where the hero got autohealed because this was sort of a special event kind of thing, but no such luck. At any rate, the boss here is a Black Knight looking fellow who pretty much kicked my ass because I didn't heal up right before the fight.

Since I wasn't exactly sure what would happen after, I just took the “L” on this one and decided to get this up. Don't want so many delays, after all

I think part of the reason for my confusion is that the first three Dragon Quest games are on sale again in Nintendo's Switch eStore, and I'm half considering getting those, since I enjoyed those back in the day. We'll see what I decide about that, though. Might be a bit, however.

Until then, stay safe, have fun, keep gaming, and DFTBA!
