Sooner Than I Though

 Guess I should have checked my main email sooner than I did.

If I had, I would have noticed that my new computer was ready to come home and get set up before I sat down to write about how it wasn’t. My own fault for not checking, of course. The computer stuff I’ve had going on lately has come on top of my day job and a lot of other real-life stuff I’ve had going on lately, so I wasn’t exactly in the best place mentally when I put my previous post up.

Things are running smoothly smoothly so far, setup is going well. I’ve gotten about as much done as I can for one night after work. Like I was just saying, everything seems to be running smoothly. Aside from everything looking quite a bit different, the biggest changes so far are that the webcam I’ve been using for what’s probably going on twenty years now doesn’t see, to be compatible with Windows 11 and that I’ve switched to LibreOffice from OpenOffice, since OpenOffice isn’t supported by its developers any more.

The office suite was something that I’d meant to change for awhile before I replaced the computer because OpenOffice had not been maintained in a long time. The webcam’s a different story. I’ve had it for a long time, and the fact that it’s lasted me through at least three operating systems, and possibly four is actually kind of surprising. If you’ve followed me for awhile, you’ve probably seen or heard me mention on several occasions that I’ve been limited to standard definition video for the last couple years, which has left me thinking it was time for an upgrade anyway. Now that what I’ve got is apparently not compatible anymore, I may have to get something more modern, want to or not, since I have ideas that pretty much need such a thing. I’m still looking into options, of course.

Like I was saying last time, of course, I’m still trying to figure out just where I’m going with all this. Getting that figuring done will be at least a little easier if I have the proper tools for it, and I’m hoping to have some of that sorted here before too much longer.
