But the wind is normal for this time of year, I guess.
Then again, it's usually fairly windy all year in my area, too.
It's how dry it's been lately that's concerning. We've had dry years before, of course, but it hasn't been this bad in awhile. There's still a lot of agriculture in my neck of the woods, so we need the rain. It'll help water the crops and keep the soil from blowing away so much.
On top of that, there's the fire danger. There was something called a red flag warning the day I wrote the rough draft of this. What that means, if I understand right, is that between the wind, the low humidity and the amount of extremely dry material around, if something were to catch fire, it would get out of control really quickly, so burning things was not advised. I'm not sure if there's a fine for that if a person did it anyway, and I'm not willing to find out the hard way. I could look it up, but the way I usually work, it's something that would take more time than I've really got to put into it, so I'm going to assume there is and advise against doing it.
In a lot of ways, this is almost as bad as when it's been too wet. There have been a good number of years when it's things have been way too wet from all the snow and rain we've had had up to this point. Things get washed out or flooded that way, which isn't good either.
The worst part of all this is that it's not just the weather issues we've got going on right now. That would be bad enough on its own, but we've got our own human crap on top of it, too.
I'd like to think we'll find a way through all of this, but the more time passes and the worse things, get, I'm not so sure.
