But then finally advanced the plot a bit.
When I sat down for the session this entry is based on, I figured I'd just do some level grinding until I got the hero and Lufia up to level seven. By the time I got there, I found I had enough of an accessory item called the Opal Ring to equip to all three of the party members I'll have in the group by the end of all this. At least two of the three of the ones I had for this came from enemies called Green Orbs. I'm not exactly sure what this particular piece of equipment is supposed to do or if it helped to have it on the hero and Lufia when I went in to recruit Augro, but I did manage to get through the fight this time. I suspect having the extra level on them and actually using some of the battle items I had in my inventory had as much or more to do with it.
Once we get the monsters, specifically four Mini Demons, taken out, Augro joins the party, saying he wants to help get this all sorted since we have to go through Lorbinia anyway and thinks maybe his government can send help since Alekia doesn't seem interested. Of course, getting there is going to require a ship of some kind, and the monsters we just beat sank Aguro's. When the soldier who's on the docks with us points that out, Aguro's reaction kind of reminds me of this host segment from MST3K.
The good news is, there was also another boat in Treck's port at the time, but it turns out the monsters managed to make off with that one and kidnap the crew to boot, because of course they did. Wouldn't be much of a game otherwise. I think I know where we need to go to rescue the ship and its crew, but as is so often the case with games like this, I'm pretty sure there's somebody I need to talk to before I can actually do that.
But finding that'll be for next time because I want to get this out on account of being up way too late and really behind on most of my projects, really. So until next time, stay safe, have fun, keep gaming, and DFTBA!
