This'll be a short one, but important
all the same.
Basically, all I'm doing here is a
little puddle jumping to get a few important things done before I
finally get around to taking care of Lich the Earth Fiend. First
off, I got Life 1 and Dia 3 for my white mage, some of which I'd
wanted to do before I went after the vampire, and Fire 3 for my black
mage. This new magic will really make going after Lich that much
easier.
But there's still a couple things I
gotta do. The next thing was to stock up on healing items, mainly
potions and antidotes, but a few tents and gold needles, too, just to
be on the safe side. There are monsters that can turn the heroes
into stone in the Earth Cave, after all.
Once all that's done, it's off to the
Titan's Tunnel and the Sage's Cave to find Sarda. This is where the
Star Ruby comes in necessary. Head east from Melmond to find the
Titan's Tunnel. It's a bit tricky because you've gotta head just a
bit south, too. There's monsters in there, but nothing particularly
threatning. The big thing to do here is talk to the Titan or golem
or whatever he is. He says he'll move his stony ass out the way if
you give him the Star Ruby. He'll gobble it up, say how good it was,
then move like he said. Past the Titan is a room with some treasure
in it. There's a little gold, plus a Mythril Helm and a Great Ax for
the Fighter. May as well get that now, because once we're done with
Sarda, there's really no reason to go back that way, far as I know
Sarda's cave is pretty much straight
south from the far end. This one's a bit of a maze, but there's only
two doors, and no treasure. Sarda's behind the second door. He says
that yeah, the vampire's not the one who's leeching off the Earth
Crystal and that the real monster involved is deeper in the Earth
Cave. He then gives you the Earth Rod and sends you on your way.
Now, I could just go back to the Earth
Cave and get on with it, but that's a bit more than I want to do
right now, so it's back to Melmond to save the game and get back to
the EC later. That'll be a matter of getting down the three or four
floors to where the vampire was and then another three or four after
that to get to Lich. He's fun. But that's going to be for next
time, in Fifty-Three Steps To Success, Part Two.
Until then, folks, have fun, stay safe,
keep gaming, and DFTBA! Ha-Bisky!
