Picture Post: Lake Pactola

The last night I was in the Hills with my family, my brother and I went to have a look at Lake Pactola and a few other places.

Picture Post: Sheridan Lake Fishing Access

I've changed my plan for how I'm doing these this year, so this one's going to be separate from the other place I got pictures for.

Picture Post: Sticker Collection

This isn't going to be much of a post, but I've covered these places over the last few years, so there's really not much left to say.

Rough Days Ahead

This is kind of a revised and updated version of a post I didn't quite get made before this very sort of update became necessary.

Not So Good, Really

There's a good sized list of things I'd like to get on with, but I just haven't felt up to it lately.

Coffee Time: July Update

This is as much an experiment as it is an update to see how posting these things both here and on YouTube works out.

TEXT PLAY: Final Fantasy IX (PlayStation, 2000, Square-Enix): Issue #072: Nearly Missed Goals

At first, I was going to make this into a multi-session entry, but then I figured I may as well just get it up so I could get back to doing it more regularly again.

The Old Lemonade Jar

Not sure when or where my folks got it, but they've had it for awhile and it's neat.

MiSTing: Digimon: Digidefenders Episode 5, Part Three

After a bit more of a delay than I had intended, it's time to wrap this chapter up so I can move on to the next chapter in the series. Hopefully, it won't be so long before I get there.

In the meantime, let's get to finishing this one, shall we? In going over this part one last time, it seems I didn't put in any further mostly direct pulls from the Red Green Show, which is probably for the best. The host segments in this part are some of my favorites, at least from my own work, and I still say the first one here is my all-time favorite of them, though the lodge meeting ending is pretty good, too.

There's also what I'd call my personal favorite riff from my own work here, too. It's the “I'm an idiot” one from almost the end. For as much amusement as I still get from that line, it also makes me kind of sad that it seems at least as true, if not moreso, now than it was when I first wrote it more or less twenty years ago.

There's some historical notes to go along with the sense of nostalgia I get from writing these wraparounds, but I'll save those for the end. For now, we've got moviesign!

MiSTing: Digimon: Digidefenders Episode 5, Part Two

I'm going to start this one off with an apology. There's been a bigger gap between the first part of this one and this second part than I had intended, on account of real-life issues coming up over the last couple months. The good news is that it's not as big a gap as I had feared when I rediscovered the hard copy I was working from on my desk during a recent mini-fit of cleaning I was doing, which I talk about in this post from not too long ago. Never the less, it happened, and I do apologize for that.

Because there was that gap, here's a link to part one of this chapter, for anyone who might want to have a look at it before moving on with this one. A lot of what I was saying there is a good place to start here, too.

As for this part specifically, upon reviewing the previous part and the part I'm putting up now, I've come to think I may have done both the more or less verbatum jokes from the Red Green Show in the previous part. I say this on account of not finding them here, and it's been a good couple months since the last part. This is not to say there won't be more almost direct pulls from one of my favorite shows in the last part. It's just been awhile, and I need to reread that last part again.

This part is mostly setup for what comes in part three, at least in terms of the part I wrote. The big running gag in this part is my own real-life poor vision. I've needed, and worn, glasses since the sixth grade, and by the time I wrote this in the early 2000s, I really couldn't see worth a damn without them. The fifteen-plus years since then haven't exactly improved that situation.

There's more to say about this, of course, but that'll be for the endcap to this. See you there!

TEXT PLAY: Final Fantasy IX (PlayStation, 2000, Square-Enix): Issue #070: Story Time With Garland

I did a little checking of my files when I started writing this part, and it looks like I've only managed to get one of these things out every three months or so over the last year.

MiSTing: Digimon: Digidefenders Episode 5 Part 1

Well, here we are, episode five of that Mystery Science Theater thing for that Digimon fan series I've been putting up here every so often. As I'm sure I've mentioned a time or two, there was meant to be a storyline in my MST3K fan series, mostly aparent in the Digimon series, but also in a few others that I've also reposted along the way. This time around, I had Leomon and my character dress up as Dalton Humphrey and Red Green, respectively, as a way to make us look different, even though there really wasn't much need, all things considered.

The specific reason, in this case, was because the guys behind The Red Green Show had made a movie called Duct Tape Forever and I was looking for a way to work it into what I was writing at the time. Of course, being a fan of Red Green kinda helped either way, and I'm sure I've done something like it eventually.

It might be of interest that this was certainly not my first bit of more or less Red Green fan fiction. A few years before I'd written a pair of “fan-script” style stories where Red and the gang wound up having adventures with the casts of cartoon shows I was watching at the time. I'm sure I'll mention where I've got those posted at some point, if I haven't already.

This will be another three-parter, since it breaks up well enough for that. This will also be the second time I've posted it here as well. The last time, I'd found a copy of it by itself on an old flopy, not expecting to find the rest of the series. Since I have, this will be more about the history and context around it than I may have previously. That last time, I mentioned before that my all-time favorite joke and favorite host segment are in this one. Both are closer to the end, though. For now, however, let's get started, shall we?
